Portfolio Benchmarks

South Kingstown High School

                            Portfolio Benchmarks

The following benchmarks have been established as a measure of student progress toward completing the portfolio.  Students who meet the benchmark in the SK Series class earn a Passing grade for that class and are considered on track toward meeting the portfolio graduation requirement.


9th Grade – SK 101

A freshman is considered on track if he/she has submitted the following to Richer Picture:

        Communication assignment (SLE2): 2/10 Reflective Reading Summaries
        Technology Assignment (SLE3):  1 MLA paper  


10th Grade – SK 102 (8/24 submissions)

A sophomore is considered on track if he/she has submitted the following to Richer Picture:

3 Critical Thinking assignments (SLE 1) which must include:
 1 Math, 1 Science, and 1 other A1
4 Communication assignments (SLE 2) which must include:    
2 Essays, 1 submission from A2.8 or A2.9, and 5/10 Reflective Reading Summaries
1 Civic or Social assignment (SLE 5, 6 and 7)
3 Formative Reflections written in Richer Picture
Independent Learning Plan (ILP) is up to date (completed with school counselors)


11th Grade – SK 103 (15/24 submissions)

A junior is considered on track if he/she has submitted the following to Richer Picture:

4 Critical Thinking assignments (SLE 1) which must include:   
1 Math, 1 Science, and 2 other A1
5 Communication assignments (SLE 2) which must include:   
 3 Essays, 1 from A2.8 or A2.9 and 8/10 Reflective Reading Summaries
2 Technology assignments (SLE 3)
2 Civic and/or Social assignments (SLE 5, 6 and/or 7)
5 Formative Reflections written in Richer Picture
Independent Learning Plan (ILP) is up to date (completed with school counselors)
Career Exploration (completed with school counselors)
Junior Summative Essay (5 paragraph essay)

A complete portfolio includes: 24 submissions, 5 Formative Reflections, 1 Summative Essay and the final oral presentation
