Welcome to the Special Education Department at South Kingstown High School. Our department aims to serve students who need academic and psycho-social support to achieve personal success. We work closely with teachers, parents, and administrators to ensure each student receives a quality education. Our team is actively involved in the English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies departments, collaborating with content area teachers to provide accommodations and modifications in an inclusive environment.

Philosophy of the Special Education Department

In accordance with the South Kingstown High School Mission Statement, Special Education services strive to help students optimally develop their academic, psychosocial, psychological, transition, and life skills. This is achieved through collaborative goal setting that includes students, families, community members/agencies, and faculty. These goals incorporate academic and alternate grade span expectations, common core learning standards, and the civic and social expectations adopted by South Kingstown High School.
